Palisades Land Acknowledgement

The Palisades is located on both the Bridger-Teton and Caribou-Targhee National Forests. These Forests are

traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the Eastern Shoshone, Shoshone-Bannock, Northern Arapaho, Northern Cheyenne,  Apsáalooke (Crow), and Oceti Sakowin (Lakota) people. Wyoming Wilderness Association believes that public lands are native lands and that acknowledging the history of the landscapes we work on is the first step in our

commitment to work against the system of oppression that dispossessed indigenous people of their lands

and denied their rights to self determination.
